A care home group has acquired a site in County Durham as it seeks to strengthen its presence in the North of England as part of a wider plan to rapidly grow in size over the coming year. Wakefield-based Strong Life Care has acquired the Church View Care Home in Murton.
The deal forms part of Strong Life Care’s aim of quadrupling in size over the next 12 months, through targeted acquisitions and new developments. The family-owned firm, which has previously primarily operated homes in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire, has a long-term goal of building the UK’s biggest family-owned mid-market care provider.
In accounts for the year to March 31 2024, the company reported turnover of around £5.3 million, up from £5.1 million a year earlier. However, operating profits fell from approximately £2 million to £1.4 million. At the time, the company’s total equity amounted to slightly under £1.4 million.
The acquisition of Church View Care Home was supported by NatWest, with brokerage support from Christie & Co and legal representation from Knights.
Church View Care Home was formerly part of Care UK. The site is a long-established and highly regarded facility, known for providing residential and dementia care services for families across County Durham and the neighbouring regions. The home, which also provides care for strokes and Parkinson’s disease, has facilities for a maximum of 42 users.
Discussing the acquisition, Strong Life Care Limited owner and Managing Director Harpreet Banwait said: "We are delighted to welcome Church View, its residents, and its dedicated care team into the Strong Life Care family. Church View reflects many of the values that define who we are—warmth, dignity, community, and an unwavering commitment to person-centred care."
