A country hotel in Devon dating back nearly a century has been put up for sale with an asking price of slightly under £2 million. The Arundell Hotel in Lifton comprises a country hotel, along with food and beverage offerings and bespoke event facilities.
The hotel includes 21 en-suite bedrooms, guest lounge, gastropub, cafe, four function and event spaces, a two-bedroom self-catering fishing cottage and a four-bedroom flat. In addition, the site also has 16 Tesla Superchargers with multiple sockets to accommodate all electric vehicle brands.
The Arundell is located in the ancient village of Lifton, set in the heart of West Devon, and is popular with guests exploring the Dartmoor National Park, which offers activities including mountain biking, hiking, wild swimming and horse riding.
The hotel’s current owners have invested heavily in improving standards at the hotel, providing a new owner with a significant opportunity to build on its existing success.
The Arundell Hotel is being marketed for sale by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co with a revised freehold asking price of £1.95 million, reflecting a change to the offering.
The sale process does not include The Arundell Fly Fishing Company, lake and fishing rights attached to the property, which will continue to be owned and run by the owners.
The sale is being managed by Stephen Champion, Director - Hotels at Christie & Co, who said: "To present The Arundell to the market alongside comparable hotel opportunities, the fishing rights and associated business have been separated from the sale. Fishing will continue to be an integral part of the guest offering, mirroring the way in which the shooting is currently operated.”
"The new owner of The Arundell will therefore continue to benefit from the associated room, food and beverage income generated by these sporting facilities, but without the complications, costs and specialist expertise required to operate a high-level fishing business, including a team of around eight ghillies. The reduction in the asking price reflects the removal of these fishing assets and the lake."
