A hotel in Rutland that has a history dating back to the early 1600s has been brought to market with an asking price of £1.8 million. The Wisteria Hotel, in Oakham town centre, comprises 25 boutique-style en-suite bedrooms.
The hotel is also home to the popular Hunters bar and restaurant and features licensed wedding and event facilities for up to 80 guests, a garden and a car park, as well as a three-bedroom owner’s/staff apartment.
Parts of the grade II-listed property date back to 1604 and the building retains numerous original features, including open fireplaces and beams.
The current owners acquired the property eight years ago and have now decided to bring it to market due to changing family circumstances and business commitments. Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has been engaged to market The Wisteria Hotel for sale, with Senior Business Agent Matt Hill managing the process.
A statement from the hotel’s family owners said: "After much careful thought, we have made the difficult decision to bring the Wisteria Hotel to market. Since acquiring the property in March 2018, it has been both a privilege and a deeply personal journey to transform the hotel into the thriving and well-regarded business it is today.”
"As our family circumstances and other business commitments have evolved, we feel the time is right to pass the baton to a new owner who can build on the strong foundations now in place. We have every confidence that the Wisteria Hotel will continue to flourish and remain a valued part of the community for many years to come."
Christie & Co’s Matt Hill described the Wisteria Hotel as “a landmark hotel with excellent reviews and established customer support.”
He continued: “Oakham is a highly desirable location, and the owners have created a very successful business with a number of different income streams. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an asset of this pedigree, trading performance and positioning."
