Gara Rock Hotel & Spa, a well-known luxury resort in the South West, has been put up for sale. Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has been instructed to market the hotel and spa for sale.
Comprising thirty-three units of accommodation, including letting bedrooms, suites, apartments and cottages, the hotel is a highly-regarded lifestyle resort and wellness retreat, situated in a clifftop setting in South Hams, near Salcombe, Devon.
Gara Rock Hotel & Spa is set within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and has been recognised in the Devon Tourism Awards for Small Hotel of the Year in both 2023 and 2024.
The hotel’s accommodation units have all recently been refurbished to a luxury standard and offer a range of interior features, including underfloor heating, rainfall showers and free-standing roll-top baths.
In addition to its accommodation units, Gara Rock’s spa offers panoramic sea views and features indoor and outdoor pools, a below ground spa pool, steam room, sauna and two treatment rooms.
The resort also includes four food and beverage outlets, including a restaurant, outdoor terrace with grill and a lounge bar, as well as an on-site cinema.
The hotel dates back to 1909, when a coastguard cottage was transformed into a family boarding house. By the 1930s, the site was an established, prestigious hotel, and in 1950 it underwent a major renovation and expansion following its acquisition by the RAF.
The resort has seen significant investment since 2017, including the refurbishment of all suites, apartments and public spaces, with the investment totalling around £11.2 million of capex.
