An established roadside hospitality venue near North Wales has been taken on by a pair of experienced new owners. The Cow Shed in Tremadog is a longstanding hospitality site that is popular with walkers, climbers, cyclists, locals and visitors exploring the Porthmadog and Eryri areas.
Located just outside Porthmadog, The Cow Shed provides access to one of the busiest visitor routes in North Wales, offering flexible indoor and outdoor dining spaces and a large parking area. EV charging and an adjacent glamping site were described as key factors in the sale.
Following a sales process managed by Christie & Co’s James Dodd, the lease on the site has been formally transferred to the new owners, who operate a number of successful hospitality venues across the region.
The new owners plan to refresh the premises, including the introduction of a more elevated dining experience and the launch of Y Beudy Steakhouse. The new concept will offer breakfasts and lunches, along with an enhanced evening menu.
Landlords Gareth and Jo said that the new owners, Craig and Richard, had “recognised the potential of this location, including the rapid EV charging and adjacent glamping site, along with the Cow Shed theme and brand that was successfully established post-pandemic.”
They continued: “We are confident that they will leverage their experience, drive, and enthusiasm for hospitality to lead the next phase of Y Beudy/Cow Shed."
James Dodd, Business Agent – Pubs & Restaurants at Christie & Co, who managed the sale, said: "This assignment brings together an iconic gateway site with experienced operators who understand the opportunity inside-out. With strong footfall, diversified income and now the ability to capture EV customers, The Cow Shed is perfectly positioned for sustainable growth.”
The new leaseholders added: “The site has long served adventurers, locals and visitors, and we’re excited to build on that legacy with our refreshed vision. Our plans for Y Beudy Steakhouse reflect our commitment to great food, great hospitality and year-round employment opportunities for the area.”
