Caron Group, an operator of care homes in Wales, had expanded its portfolio with a triple acquisition from Priory Group. The acquisition of the purpose-built sites in Aberdare, Ammanford and Swansea were brokered by specialist property adviser Montane Care.
The deal takes Caron Group’s portfolio of care homes to 17, with all settings located in south and mid-Wales. The group was founded in 2002 through the acquisition of its first two care homes in Swansea.
The new homes the group has acquired are: Parc Wern in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire; The Beeches in Aberdare in the Cynon Valley; and St Mark’s Court in Swansea. The financial terms of the transaction were not undisclosed.
The three homes provide nursing and dementia care, as well as palliative and respite care. Between them, they have a total of 142 bedrooms, with Parc Wern having 59, The Beeches having 45 and St Mark’s Court 38.
Montane Care director Anthony Rae (pictured above, centre, with Caron Group Chairman Sanjiv Joshi, left, and Montane Group Managing Director Scott Murcott, right) commented: “We are pleased to have successfully undertaken the sale of Parc Wern, The Beeches and St Mark’s Court to Caron Group, an experienced regional operator.”
Rae added that the three homes "proved an attractive acquisition opportunity" with Montane Care receiving numerous offers in a short period of time.
The sale continues a series of divestments of older people care homes by Priory Group. Over recent months, Montane Care has brokered a number of transactions on the group’s behalf, including the sale of Cooper House in Bradford to Strong Life Care and homes in Lincolnshire and Motherwell to Maven Healthcare.
Montane Care is part of the Montane group of businesses, which is headquartered in Derby and has additional offices in Chorley, Lancashire and Winsford in Cheshire. The group includes independent finance broker Montane Finance and Montane Insurance, a boutique commercial broker for the hospitality and healthcare sectors.
