400-strong national law firm Simpson Millar has announced the acquisition of Forster Dean’s Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence portfolio. The acquisition expands Simpson Millar’s capabilities across personal injury, serious injury and clinical negligence claims.
The deal brings in 12 new team members, who will join Leeds-headquartered Simpson Millar’s Liverpool and Manchester offices. Forster Dean will continue to provide client services from its offices in Cheshire and Merseyside.
The acquisition reflects Simpson Millar’s growth strategy, with the firm seeking to invest in its capabilities, client offering and staff. The acquired caseload has already been successfully migrated onto the company’s proprietary technology platform.
Simpson Millar Chief Executive Greg Cox said that the addition of Forster Dean’s Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence team would bring significant experience into the firm, particularly across serious and catastrophic injury claims.
Cox added that the team’s expertise would complement Simpson Millar’s existing offering, while strengthening its ability to support clients with “complex and life-changing cases.”
He continued: "This transaction reflects our continued investment in both people and technology. We remain focused on sustainable growth and will continue to explore opportunities that align with our culture, strengthen our capabilities and enhance the service we provide to clients.”
With the UK legal sector continuing to undergo consolidation, Cox said that Simpson Millar’s model was enabling it to grow at pace, while continuing to provide a high level of service and support to its clients.
Cox added that Simpson Millar anticipated making further acquisitions as it continued to target client base expansion across its core areas of law.
Forster Dean director Dan Thompson commented: "Forster Dean is extremely proud of its history in the Personal Injury sector and has been privileged to serve so many clients over the years in a professional, expert and caring manner. With the changes in the sector, now is the right time for our clients and our excellent team to move forward with Simpson Millar.”
"Simpson Millar have worked closely with us throughout this transaction to ensure our people and clients have been the priority and we are grateful for their efforts.”
