Labdesk, a cloud, cyber and IT solutions provider based in Warrington, has expanded with the acquisition of a local business broadband, IT and phone provider. The acquisition of Cheshire Telecom, for an undisclosed sum, is described as a strategic move and the culmination of a longstanding partnership between the two companies.
Labdesk has provided Cheshire Telecom with technical services and support for several years and the buyer said that the merger of the firms was a natural progression of this, combining the strengths and expertise of the businesses.
Labdesk was co-founded by Operations Director Mike Douglass and Commercial Director James Rooney (pictured above, l to r). In addition to its base in Warrington, the company has hubs in Alderley Park, Cheshire, and Oxford.
According to labdesk, the two companies will be better positioned to provide clients with support and innovative solutions following the merger, while the deal will ensure clients continue to benefit from reliable technology services.
As a result of the move, Cheshire Telecom’s partners will gain access to a wider offering of IT and cybersecurity solutions. The acquisition will also see Cheshire Telecom directors Paul Taylor and Mike O’Halloran join labdesk as Non-Executive Directors. Labdesk said that the addition of Taylor and O’Halloran would provide invaluable industry knowledge and experience.
James Rooney, Operations Director at labdesk, said: “Labdesk are really proud to be merging with the team over at Cheshire Telecom to continue building upon their 20+ year heritage.”
“From my own personal perspective I’ve worked with this team for numerous years and helped build their strong relationships with their partners which we will continue to do. We’re excited to build the partnership and what the future holds.”
Mike O’Halloran, director of Cheshire Telecom and Taylor Estates, said that Cheshire Telecom had been founded in 2014 “with the goal of providing excellent customer service and high quality business solutions for the tenants of Taylor Business Park”, growing steadily from there to work “alongside many trusted partners.”
“However,” he continued, “none have matched the expertise and professionalism that James and Mike bring at labdesk. For that reason, and to continue delivering the best possible service to our customers, we believe a merger is the natural next step – building on our success over the past 11 years and ensuring that we keep growing and delivering exceptional service well into the future.”
