RM is to acquire Music Education Supplies (MES), the supplier of school equipment, for up to £1m. MES specialises in nursery and primary school music, supplying instruments, books and other related products. The company will be merged with RM's own specialist education resources division, TTS Limited. RM will pay an initial £0.8m, with a further £0.2m to be paid in March 2007 subject to agreed performance targets for the merged company. Managing Director of MES, Ray Mason, will remain with the business during the handover period. Peter Ellse, Managing Director of TTS, said of the acquisition: "MES is one of a choice number of real specialist businesses in primary school and nursery supply. They are widely well regarded for their values of high levels of research, specialist focus and closeness to the teacher and music specialist.
