The aerospace and defence group Cobham have announced a clear-out of unwanted businesses to concentrate on high-technology, high-growth sectors of the market. Cobham has already sold its fluid and air companies, which specialise in supplying equipment such as aircraft fuel pumps, to Eaton Corporation of the US for £150m. The group has also put a 'for sale' sign over its countermeasures business, which makes flares to help fighter aircraft evade ground-to-air missiles. Together the two businesses account for just under 15 per cent of Cobham's group turnover of £1bn a year.
