A hotel in Belfast has said that it will continue to fulfil commitments and continue to do business after being placed in administration.
The Ten Square hotel located on the corner of Linenhall Square just behind Belfast City Hall will continue to do business while business advisers EY look into its financial affairs.
The administrators said in a statement: “The hotel will continue to operate business as usual. All events booked with the hotel will go ahead and deposits paid will be honoured.”
The boutique hotel opened in 2000 and the current owner is property developer John Miskelly. The hotel has 23 bedrooms and also has a blue plaque adorning the exterior of the building to commemorate the former Lord Mayor and philanthropist Sir Otto Jaffe whose linen business was historically held within the building.
However, Colin Neill of Pubs of Ulster expressed his disappointment at the hotel being placed in administration, the News Letter reported. He said: “Hotels in particular operate in a very competitive and ever-changing marketplace.
“I am glad to hear the business will continue to operate as normal until a resolution can be found and I would be hopeful that the business itself would present a promising opportunity because of its prominent city centre location and the fact that it has traded very well for many years.”
