A Yorkshire-based logistics business that specialised in furniture retailer deliveries has appointed administrators, months after it ceased trading. Humber Services Limited had ceased trading amid cashflow difficulties resulting from a dispute with a major customer.
The Rotherham-based company was founded in 2018 and commenced trading in 2020. The firm operated as a white glove logistics operator across the UK and Europe, providing furniture retailer deliveries.
Andrew Watling and Simon Campbell of Quantuma were appointed as joint administrators of the company on August 1 2025. As the business had ceased trading months prior, the company did not employ any staff at the time of the appointment.
According to the joint administrators, Humber Services experienced cashflow difficulties in the wake of a dispute with a major customer. The dispute resulted in the relationship breaking down, non-payment for services rendered and the receipt of significant counterclaims for non-performance.
Creditor action put the business at risk of liquidation, with the secured creditor appointing Quantuma in order to gain control of the situation.
Joint administrator and Quantuma Managing Director Andrew Watling said: "It is extremely regrettable that Humber Services was forced to cease trading, due to a series of challenging circumstances. This was a sad ending for an established company. As joint administrators, our immediate priorities have been to seek to obtain maximum value for the company's creditors."
In accounts for the year to November 30 2023, the company’s fixed assets were valued at £1.2 million. However, the company’s significant liabilities meant that its net assets amounted to slightly over £41,000.
