A haulage and engineering company has gone into administration, prompting the search for a potential buyer.
Historic haulage firm T.Baden Hardstaff Ltd also maintains commercial fleets under the name Hardstaff Haulage and Charnwood Truck Services. Will Wright and Mark Orton of KPMG were appointed as administrators on 6 February.
Unfortunately, 180 of the 232-strong workforce were made redundant as a result of the administration, with KPMG blaming it on the difficult climate. Fifty-two employees remain at the 150-year-old firm based in Gotham near Nottingham to aid the administrators with their work.
Wright explained: "Unfortunately, following a review of the position and the difficulties with continuing to trade, we have had to take the difficult decision to make 180 staff redundant.
"The remaining employees are supporting us whilst we explore a possible sale of parts of the businesses. Our team of employment specialists will be supporting all redundant staff on completing redundancy forms and putting them in touch with job seeker services.
"The Hardstaff Traffic Barrier Services business is not in administration and continues to trade as normal. We hope to find a buyer for it."
