Ranger Fire and Security, a London-based fire and security services company backed by private equity firm Hyperion, has continued its acquisitive growth with the acquisition of a fire safety business in Dublin.
The acquisition of Aqua Fire Prevention further bolsters Ranger’s Irish presence, marking its second acquisition in Ireland since it was launched in early 2024, following last year’s takeover of KSS Fire Suppression.
Aqua Fire Prevention was founded in 1986 and provides fully certified fire safety services to more than 3,000 customers across a wide range of sectors. The company’s core services include fire extinguisher supply and installation, equipment service and maintenance, fire prevention compliance and fire safety training services led by experts.
The acquisition will enable the firm to benefit from the wider Ranger group’s expertise and knowledge, whilst also creating new cross-selling opportunities. Prior to the acquisition, the company had already established mutually beneficial cross-selling opportunities with KSS Fire Suppression.
The deal is Ranger’s tenth acquisition since it was launched in early 2024 and third of 2025 so far. The acquisition reflects the firm’s aim to establish itself as Ireland’s “go-to provider” of fire and security services, as well as its plans to expand beyond the UK, with the company said to be considering pursuing acquisitions in Europe at a later stage.
Ranger Fire and Security Chief Executive Mark Bridges commented: "Aqua Fire Prevention is a standout addition to Ranger. Its well-earned and long-standing reputation, coupled with a customer-first approach, chimes well with our ethos and makes the team a perfect fit for the group.”
"Expanding our footprint in Ireland is a major milestone for us, and with Aqua’s leadership, expertise and knowledge, we’re in a strong position to better meet the needs of Irish business, providing the highest quality fire and security services."
Following the takeover, Diane Brennan will lead Aqua as General Manager, while founder Brendan Mooney will remain at the company for a “significant” period of time, in order to aid the transition to the Ranger platform.
Mooney commented: "With the backing of Mark and the Ranger team, we can expand our services and benefit from collaborating with a group of like-minded businesses, all while retaining our values and a commitment to quality that we have become well known for over our 35-year history. We will ensure that we continue to build and develop our business, whilst enhancing our offering to all existing and new businesses to come."
