Bambi Air Compressors, a supplier of air compressors headquartered in Birmingham, has been acquired by Lucena Capital, a fund focused on acquiring UK SMEs from retiring owners. Current owner Laurence Clutterbuck established Bambi Air Compressors in 1977 and is now seeking to retire.
The company produces a range of electric-only, oil-free and silent air compressors. Its products are supplied to a variety of industries, including dental and medical, OEM, scientific and industrial.
Bambi Air Compressors was advised and supported on the sale by Jerroms Corporate Finance. Clutterbuck said that Jerroms provided “clear guidance to both us and the vendors” throughout the deal and that their expertise was crucial in guiding the deal and “driving the project towards a successful conclusion.”
The acquisition further strengthens Lucena Capital’s portfolio, following the fund’s November 2023 acquisition of precision engineering services supplier Impress Group.
Ben Suquet, managing director of Lucena Capital, added: "I am thrilled to be part of the ongoing journey that Bambi Air has been on over the last 47 years. Their legacy is commendable, having established a specialist engineering and manufacturing business that consistently prioritises customer satisfaction through unwavering commitment to quality.”
"Lucena Capital was created precisely for such succession scenarios. I am eager to collaborate with the Bambi Air team and assist in their ambitions to expand the business further."
Lucena Capital was founded by Ben Suquet with the aim of acquiring UK SMEs from retiring owners and providing long-term investment in order to drive sustained success and growth. The company targets businesses with a track record of profitability, delivering EBITDA of more than £750,000, with teams of 20 or more employees and strong prospects for future growth.
