A frozen food company in Kingsteignton, near Newton Abbot, has fallen into administration, with the loss of 33 jobs.
Quality Cuisine Ltd operates under two different divisions: Quality Cuisine and Eaton's Patisserie. Staff working in both divisions were recently informed that the firm had collapsed and that their jobs no longer existed.
The finance company Deloitte was appointed as the administrator for the firm on Wednesday last week, with Robin Allen and Richard Hawes named joint administrators on the project.
The two divisions fulfill different roles: Eaton’s Patisserie manufactures puddings and cakes that are sold to the catering market or to intermediary foodservice distributors, while Quality Cuisine produces starters, which are also sold to caterers and distributors.
Administrator Robin Allen said that they are now trying to find a buyer for the firm: "unfortunately 33 people have been made redundant and we will be working with the local job centre and the redundancy payments office to support those affected. In the meantime, we are in discussion with a number of parties regarding the sale of the business."
