Baked goods company Fabulous Bakin’ Boys has been bought out of administration by Daelmans Group.
Fabulous Bakin’ Boys makes packaged baked goods for the grocery sector such as muffins, cupcakes and flapjacks. Based in Witney, Oxfordshire, the company employs around 120 staff, all of which will keep their jobs as part of the sale.
The Dutch business Daelmans Group is a supplier of cakes, pastries, caramel waffles, coconut pastry, biscuits and shortcake. The goods are sold under the Daelmans and De Molen’s Banket brands.
Fabulous Bakin’ Boys had been put into administration last Friday (11 April), leading to Daelmans’ purchase of the company. The administration came as a result of the baking company overspending, including a £3 million investment in an automated packaging line for individual goods, new managing director Richard Cooper told FoodManufacturer.com.
Daelmans has stated that it bought its British competitor for an undisclosed fee to help it realise its growth ambitions in Europe.
In a statement Thijmen Peter de With, general manager of Daelmans Group, said: “Fabulous Bakin’ Boys has great potential and will benefit from the investment and re-invigoration that an established bakery company such as Daelmans Group can provide.”
Fabulous Bakin’ Boys, formerly known as the Delicious Donut Company, was formed in 1989. In 2011 it was voted the West Oxfordshire Business of the Year and currently has a £14m turnover.
