A meat snacks manufacturer with sites in Wigan and York has been acquired by Co Meath-headquartered food company Kepak Group. The acquisition of Meat Snacks Group Ltd, trading as New World Foods Europe (NWFE), from Valeo Foods Group adds brands including Wild West, Kings and Cruga to the Kepak portfolio.
The deal also includes the Freshers Foods brand, along with two manufacturing sites in Wigan and York. New World Foods was acquired by Dublin-headquartered Valeo Foods Group in August 2021.
According to Valeo Foods Group, New World Foods has been consolidating its operational footprint over the past year, with the vendor saying that this was the "right time to support its growth under new ownership".
Brian Farrell, chief executive of Kepak Foods Division, said that the deal “enhances our capabilities in the ambient snacking category and adds a strong suite of established brands to our portfolio.”
He continued: “It supports our continued growth in both the UK and international markets, particularly across the convenience and food-to-go channels. It’s very much business as usual for both companies and our partners as we begin a phased integration process.”
Valeo Foods Group Chief Executive Ronald Kers said that Kepak Group was “the right partner” to enable New World Foods to achieve its potential and that it was transitioning to an owner “with a portfolio in which they will receive the focus and resources to grow.”
Kers added: “At the same time, the sale allows Valeo Foods to sharpen its focus on our core strengths and accelerate our further growth.”
