Saltire Facilities Management Limited, a heating services specialist based in Scotland, has been acquired by Daikin Airconditioning UK Limited from United Capital Group Limited for an undisclosed sum.
Daikin Airconditioning UK is part of Daikin Europe, a global specialist in heating, cooling, ventilation, clean air and refrigeration technologies. The acquisition of Saltire follows Daikin’s January 2024 purchase of Robert Heath Heating, with both deals strengthening its UK service infrastructure.
Based in Glasgow and with a branch in Birmingham, Saltire is a specialist provider of heating services for houses and apartment buildings. The company offers maintenance contracts, heating system installation and 24/7 service support.
Saltire employs around 300 staff, including more than 200 field technicians, and in the year to March 31 2024 recorded turnover of £30.3 million, up from £27.1 million a year earlier, and pre-tax profits of £3 million, up from £1.1 million.
Saltire Managing Director Alan Murray said that the company would be able to use Daikin’s expertise “to further expand into the renewable energy sector and heat pumps.”
He continued: "This acquisition will bring our customers enhanced technical support and access to a broader range of energy-efficient products. We aim to expand technician training programs to build a skilled workforce with expertise in the most recent technologies, including heat pump servicing."
Saltire’s shareholders were advised on the transaction by BDO Midlands’ M&A business services team, led by managing director and head of business services M&A Satvir Bungar.
Bungar commented: "Saltire Facilities management has built up an excellent reputation in the heating services sector, marking its footprint both in Scotland and the Midlands.”
"The sale to Daikin marks an important milestone in the company's growth journey, providing Saltire with significant infrastructure and expertise to expand its heating service offering to customers.”
