A prestigious luxury jewellers on the Isle of Wight has been put up for sale for £2.5 million after being a fixture in Cowes for 168 years.
Benzie of Cowes, located on the Cowes High Street, has placed its store up for sale for £2,560,000. Included in the sale is the business itself, as well as a four bedroom home located above the shop and an observation gallery that boasts "undisturbed" views of the Solent.
Benzie has built a strong reputation over the past 168 years, creating the gold chain worn by the mayor of Cowes, as well as high class silverware used by the Royal Yacht Squadron. The jeweller has also been responsible for creating ornate models of ships such as the famous yacht Endeavour for prestigious clients such as Thomas Sopwith in 1934.
The shop's reputation within the world of yachting is expected to draw attention from around the globe, placing the new owner in the perfect position to hit the ground running and capitalise on this publicity from the moment they're handed the keys.
A spokesperson for the jewellers stated that it was time for the business, which is currently enjoying "fair winds", to be handed over to someone new. "Benzie of Cowes is looking for a new skipper, to drive the business forward," he said.
"With patronage from royalty and some of the world’s most iconic sailors, the business offers an anchor in the town of Cowes, known to be the yachting capital of the world," he continued
"The new voyage of Benzie of Cowes has begun, with a mission to find a new skipper to navigate her business fortunes further."
