An interpreting and language services provider (LSP) based in West Yorkshire has been acquired by a US group. Enable2, which is based in Shipley, was spun out of NHS Bradford and Airedale in 2011 and maintains a strong presence in healthcare settings and hospitals.
The company caters to “non-English-speaking people and communities”, providing on-site interpreting, as well as a proprietary platform to book and facilitate telephonic (OPI) and video (VRI) interpreting services.
The firm has now been acquired by language service and technology company Translate. One, a division of Atlanta-based legal services firm Trustpoint.One. The deal is Trustpoint. One’s second in the UK, following its January 2024 takeover Balthasar Limited, an LSP that specialises in the HVAC and renewables sectors.
Enable2 and Translate. One were introduced in late 2023. According to Translate. One President Peter Smith, quoted in language industry publication Slator, the two firms subsequently “cultivated a strong and collaborative relationship, recognising the synergy between our companies and the potential to create greater value together”, with the acquisition completing in June 2024.
Following the takeover, Enable2 Founder and Managing Director Liz Weatherill will remain with the company, with Peter Smith saying that Enable2 will “probably” be integrated into the Translate. One brand over time.
Smith commented: "We are excited to welcome Enable2 to the Translate. One family. Their dedication to providing sensitive, professional, and understanding language support perfectly aligns with our mission. Together, we are well-positioned to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through language."
Liz Weatherill added: "This acquisition opens up new opportunities for Enable2 to expand our services. By joining forces with Translate. One, we can leverage their extensive infrastructure and resources to enhance our offerings and continue delivering exceptional language support."
