Food manufacturer Samworth Brothers has completed the acquisition of sandwich maker The Real Wrap Company. Samworth Brothers initially acquired a minority stake in the business last year and has now acquired the remaining shares.
The Real Wrap Company, which was founded in 2012, operates from sites in Aylesbury and Avonmouth. The company supplies readymade sandwiches, wraps and salads to the healthcare, education, travel and business sectors.
In the year to March 31 2023, The Real Wrap Company reported turnover of £27.5 million and pre-tax profits of around £136,000.
Following the acquisition, members of The Real Wrap Company’s existing management team will continue to lead the company, with Samworth Brother Group executive board member Paul Davey also continuing to sit on its board.
The company joins other brands within the Samworth Brothers Group, which can trace its roots back to the 1800s, including West Cornwall Pasty Co, Ginsters pasties, Urban Eat and Soreen malt loaf.
Hugo Mahoney, Samworth Brothers group chief executive, commented: "Food To Go has been a tremendous success story for Samworth Brothers in recent years, and we believe the category is well-positioned for growth.
