Insurance underwriting and broking firm Specialist Risk Group has expanded its UK retail division with the acquisition of Champion Insurance Group. The acquisition of the North West broker significantly strengthens SRG’s presence in the region, with the deal also including Champion's specialist subsidiaries Champion Professional Risks and Champion Health & Benefits.
Based in Manchester, Champion Insurance Group is an independent commercial broker that serves an array of sectors. The group has offices across the North West and provides tailored insurance solutions to a variety of clients.
Lee Anderson, Group Deputy Chief Executive at Specialist Risk Group, commented: “We are thrilled to welcome Champion Insurance Group to SRG. It was immediately clear that we share the same values and ambitions, particularly around growth, client service and building a business that is both relevant and resilient.”
"Champion’s regional strength and advisory approach are a perfect complement to our UK Retail platform, and we look forward to what we can achieve together."
Dan Maloney, Managing Director at Champion Insurance Group, said: “This is a really exciting step forward for our business. From our first conversations, it was obvious that SRG understood who we are and where we’re going. We share the same belief in combining expertise, integrity, and genuine care for clients.”
Maloney added: “With SRG’s support and wider capabilities, we’re well placed to accelerate our growth and continue delivering for our clients across the North West and beyond.”
The acquisition of Champion Insurance Group continues a period of acquisitive growth for the group. Last week, SRG agreed to acquire motorsport insurance specialist James Hirst and his team at James Hallam Limited, part of Seventeen Group.
Last month, the group also announced its intention to acquire construction, engineering, and infrastructure specialist City Quarter Brokers as part of its ongoing efforts to diversify its portfolio and boost its offering in specialist markets.
