British e-commerce firm The Hut Group (THG) has acquired French natural haircare company Christophe Robin in a strategic bid to expand its portfolio of international beauty products.
THG will be adding Christophe Robin to its beauty offerings, which presently includes MAC and Bobbi Brown amongst other luxury brands.
Founded in Paris in 1999 by Christophe Robin himself, the brand has ten product ranges with roughly 70 individual products to its name and is aimed at maintaining and improving scalp health, protecting colour, and sustaining hair growth. The brand has attracted much international attention, including from clients like Kylie Minogue.
Christophe Robin is stocked across the world in the UK, US, Europe and through parts of Asia, and is sold through retailers like Sephora and Space NK. Due to its place in a fast-growing sector of the beauty industry, the brand has experienced a 40 per cent increase in sales over the last two years.
Chief executive of THG, Matthew Moulding, said: “Christophe Robin products are a perfect addition to THG’s portfolio of brands, with a strong ethos of positioning within the haircare market.
“Natural beauty products are continuing to take the industry by storm and combined with its expertise in luxury haircare, this is an exciting time for us to invest in the brand, product development and people, to deliver the next stage of growth.”
The acquisition was overseen by a number of professional services, with DLA Piper, Deloitte and EY advising THG, and Michel Dyens & Co. providing exclusive financial advice to Christophe Robin.
Christophe Robin commented: “Together with my chief executive and partner Géraldine Hieronimus, we are proud of growing the Christophe Robin brand by an average of more than 40 per cent over the last three years and exporting our unique natural luxury French hair care products to more than 35 countries.
“I am excited to see my brand continue its adventure going forward with The Hut Group.”
