Global engineering solutions provider, Weir Group, has officially completed the acquisition of Townley Engineering, a US based manufacturer of wear-resistant solutions for industrial applications.
The deal, valued at approximately £160 million, positions Weir to expand its presence in the North American market, particularly in sectors like mining, power, and industrial wear.
Townley Engineering, headquartered in Houston, Texas, specialises in producing high-performance, cast-wear products, including valves, pumps, and other critical equipment used in highly abrasive environments. With a customer base that spans various industries, Townley’s innovative technologies are seen as complementary to Weir’s existing portfolio.
Weir’s acquisition aligns with its strategy to enhance its offering in high-growth markets, strengthening its ability to serve customers with more advanced, durable solutions. This deal also further bolsters Weir’s position in the US market, a key region for its Minerals division, which accounts for a significant portion of its revenue.
Weir Group CEO, Jon Stanton said: “The acquisition of Townley is a significant milestone in Weir’s ongoing growth strategy. Townley’s world-class products and exceptional service capabilities will allow us to offer more comprehensive solutions to our customers, particularly in the highly competitive North American market.”
The transaction is expected to enhance Weir’s ability to capitalise on long-term industry trends such as infrastructure development and the increasing demand for more sustainable industrial processes. Additionally, Townley’s expertise in wear-resistant technology is expected to drive innovation within Weir’s product portfolio.
This acquisition also marks a continued push by Weir to diversify its product offering, strengthen its market position, and create new opportunities in key global markets.
