A commercial property suitable for development is for sale in Bromsgrove town centre, it has been reported.
The 1.78 acre site includes centrally-located buildings as well as car parking space that sits on the site of the old Market Hall. It is described in the council's area action plan as being a mixed use development opportunity and could be suited to a retailer or a business interested in developing the site for leisure use.
Councillor Del Boot, portfolio holder for town centre regeneration, told the Bromsgrove Advertiser: “Developers have shown serious interest in this site for some time because as a cornerstone of the town centre, it is an attractive proposition. We are seeking a committed partner prepared to bring a high quality, appropriate development to Bromsgrove.”
Interested parties have already held discussions with the council, but a suitable developer was not found to the property, which has been formally marketed in a process that could take up to six months to conclude. It is hoped that high profile developers and investors will show an interest in buying up the property and inject new life into the town centre through the addition of a cinema or similar facility.
