A well-known hotel in the Denbighshire market town of Llangollen has been acquired by an international investment firm. Zeltgelst Consulting Pte Limited has acquired the Hand Hotel off a guide asking price of £1.9 million through a share sale transaction.
The hotel had been operated by its previous owners for 25 years, before they opted to sell the profitable business in 2024. Specialist commercial property consultants Graham + Sibbald were subsequently engaged to handle the sale of the property.
The Hand Hotel, which is situated in the town centre and overlooks the River Dee, was put up for sale last year. Following the acquisition, operation of the hotel will be taken over by Compass Hospitality with immediate effect.
The hotel is more than 400 years old and features 58 en-suite bedrooms, as well as a bistro-style restaurant, a popular public bar, conference space and private dining facilities.
Louise Holland, former Managing Director and part-owner of the Hand Hotel, said that the owners had sought out quotes from major agencies after opting to sell the hotel, following 25 years of ownership.
Holland stated that Graham + Sibbald’s industry insight had been key in their choice and that the firm’s Hotel + Leisure partner Martin Davis had “brought serious buyers to the table without inflating expectations and provided support and clarity at every stage.”
