The Enchanted Manor, an award-winning Isle of Wight hotel previously known as Windcliffe Manor, has been placed on the market for £1.5 million.
Ric and Maggie Hilton bought the formerly rundown property at auction for £750,000 in 2006 and transformed it into a luxurious fully functioning hotel in six months.
Dating back to 1938, the site was originally the home of the Kirkpatrick family, who were friends of the royal family.
Decorated in an opulent, fairytale fantasy style the five-star hotel has 11 suites and features four-poster beds, painted ceilings, chandeliers and statues.
The one-of-a-kind hotel has attracted couples from across the globe and has a large customer base. Maggie, who has been in the hotel business for three decades, says Josephine Wall’s fantasy artwork inspired the décor themes in the rooms.
The hotel is Maggie’s second venture with her partner Ric, after buying a restaurant and turning it into a Victorian tearoom. Having run the hotel for eight years the owners are hoping to pass it on to someone who will also appreciate the style.
She said: “We’re hoping someone will buy it who has the same passion that we do. It needs a special type of person to take it on, and we hope they’re out there somewhere.”
