A Leicestershire knitting machine factory has been put up for sale for £2 million by its German owners, who are looking to scale back their UK operations.
The Leicester Mercury reports owners Karl Mayer, the textile machinery maker, saying there had been “very keen interest” in the Shepshed site.
The factory comprises:
3,000 sq ft of office space across two floors.
More than 37,000 sq ft of industrial space.
A manufacturing facility.
Loading yard.
Warehouse space.
Mezzanine.
Two-storey office building.
Small residential flat.
The warehouse and loading yard come with four 12.5 tonne cranes, used to load and unload heavy goods.
Karl Mayer’s technical director Alan Garrity told the Leicester Mercury: "We are in the process of changing the business and some machinery sales will go out to Hong Kong.
"We will retain a sales office in the UK and we will still be in the Midlands, but we are looking for much smaller premises."
Garrity reported “some very keen interest” in the building. Alex Reid from surveyors Mather Jamie, who are helping to sell the building, said the site would suit a small or medium-sized manufacturing or engineering firm.
"This substantial, purpose-built industrial complex is very well located, being less than a mile from junction 21 of the M1, and has two access points onto Kings Road and Old Station Close, making it perfect for a busy manufacturing or engineering company with high output,” he said.
