Two family-run care homes in Paignton, Torbay have been sold for an undisclosed price in a deal brokered by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co. The Mount Olivet and Kingsmount care homes provide dementia and nursing care for up to a total of 62 residents.
In 2018, the care homes were named as a “Top 20 Care Home Group” by carehome.co.uk and Christie & Co said that they continued to enjoy “an excellent reputation within the community for providing quality dementia and nursing care”.
Previously owned by GrayAreas Limited, the care homes were under the ownership of the Gray family for 23 years prior to being brought to market. Simon Harvey of Christie & Co was engaged to run a confidential sales process, which resulted in the homes being acquired by John Griffiths and Peter Angelides of Hadley Care in North Devon, with the pair bringing a wealth of experience within the sector.
Tori Gray, Managing Director of Mount Olivet and Kingsmount care homes, said that she had “no doubt” that the new owners “will continue to take the homes from strength to strength well into the future”, adding that they had taken on a “fantastic team” at the two sites.
New owners John Griffiths and Peter Angelides commented: “We were delighted to acquire the care homes to join our already highly successful Hadley Care business. Simon Harvey at Christie & Co continues to work with us on our acquisition trail to grow our group in the South West.”
Simon Harvey, Senior Director – Care at Christie & Co, said that the firm “ran a structured and discrete marketing campaign” on behalf of the Gray family, with the location and quality of the two care homes ensuring the process “generated significant interest from a wide range of buyers with bids.”
He continued: “It was obvious that John and Peter’s approach and vision for the business aligned with the family, and it was therefore agreed that the homes be sold to them.”
Harvey added that the transaction “was not without its challenges”, but that the commitment and desire of all parties enabled a positive outcome, further demonstrating “the appetite and demand that continues to exist for a wide range of care homes across the South West.”
