A major redevelopment opportunity has come onto the market in Leeds city centre, offering a range of possibilities for the right buyer.
Brotherton House is the former administrative headquarters of the West Yorkshire Police but it has become surplus to the police's requirements as the police force moved to purpose-built headquarters elsewhere in the city back in 1976 and gradually moved their administrative work elsewhere.
The building itself was built in the 1950s and includes around 56,000 sq ft of space at the location on the junction of Westgate and St Paul's Street.
Jones Lang LaSalle has been appointed by the client to sell the property, Insider Media reported.
Jeff Pearey, head of the accountancy firm's Leeds office, commented: “Brotherton House, which is now surplus to our client's requirements, is a very exciting redevelopment opportunity to come to the market.
"The building, which is easily recognisable, stands prominently at the Western Gateway into Leeds city centre and has the potential, subject to planning consents, to be redeveloped into a range of uses including offices or hotel and the like. We envisage strong interest in the opportunity."
