IT managed services provider (MSP) Redcentric has announced that it is in advanced discussions over a potential sale of its data centre business, but added that there is "no certainty that a transaction will occur".
The business, Redcentric Data Centres Limited, operates two sites in London, as well as facilities in Reading, Cambridge, Gatwick, Woking, Byfleet and Elland. The eight sites in the Redcentric portfolio have 41MW of capacity.
The portfolio was amassed through a series of acquisitions, including 2022 deals for UK colocation provider 4D Data Centre and three Sungard data centres, which were subsequently rebranded under the Redcentric Data Centres brand.
4D’s sites included a 6,500 sq ft (603 sqm) 1MW data centre in Byfleet, Surrey and a 10,000 sq ft (929 sqm), 3MW facility in Crawley, West Sussex, acquired in 2016 from BT. The firm also leased space in London and Maidstone.
The acquisition of the Sungard sites saw Redcentric take on London Hounslow LTC Data Centre and Recovery Centre, the Woking TC3 facility and the Elland TC4 Data Centre and Recovery Centre.
These acquisitions built on the four data centres the company operated in the UK at the time, located in London, Harrogate, Cambridge and Reading, which totalled 50,000 sq ft.
The company’s confirmation that it is in advanced talks regarding a sale of the business unit came in response recent to media speculation.
This speculation comes shortly after the company announced the appointment of former SourceBio International CFO Tony Ratcliffe as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director earlier this month.
Ratcliffe, who led healthcare tech firm SourceBio’s AIM IPO and successful restructuring, brings more than 25 years of experience providing senior financial management with fast growing technology and service companies.
