Three property firms in Derby owned by the same family have been merged to form one of the area’s largest lettings agents. The Cope family has merged its two estate agencies, James Cope Homes and Amber Homes, with residential, sales and property letting firm Professional Properties to form a single new business, cope&co.
This is the first time the business, which was founded 25 years ago, has undertaken a major rebrand. Husband and wife Daren and Susan Cope, the firm’s Finance Director and Managing Director, respectively, will lead the company alongside their children, Sales Director James Cope and Operations Director Annie Cope.
Susan Cope said that, following the recent acquisition of Alfreton-based Amber Homes, this was the right time to merge the three companies under one brand. She revealed that cope&co will launch this month with a new brand and website.
The new company will cover Derbyshire and East Staffordshire and become one of the region’s biggest independent letting and estate agents. Along with its existing management services, the company also plans to launch a new block management service in January 2024.
Finance Director Daren Cope commented: “Our new brand is a reflection of our amazing journey so far as a family, but it also marks our aspiration to continue growing as a business.”
Managing Director Susan Cope said: “As the business developed, we moved around to accommodate the growth in staff. It soon became clear that our customers liked the way we worked, and we became business leaders in lettings and property management. Right now, we are one of the largest, independent letting agents in the area and I think it’s because we are so passionate about what we do.”
The merger of the three Derbyshire property firms comes amid growing consolidation in the UK's property sector. Read about another recent major deal in the lettings market:
