Micro brewery business Oakleaf Brewing Company is now in the hands of joint administrators, with a sale being sought.
Michael Fortune and Carl Faulds of Portland Business & Financial Solutions were brought in to act as the administrators on 2 August 2016, and are now seeking a buyer for the award-winning business, which is continuing to trade the brewery with help from the company's management, Insider Media reported.
The Gosport-based business, which makes six regular ales including the award-winning Hole Hearted beer, has already received “significant interest” from buyers.
It also has two outlets – The Florist in Portsmouth and The Brewpot in Gosport run under its Oakleaf brand – where the brewery can showcase its ales.
Founded in 2000 by Dave Pickersgill and his son in law Ed Anderson to create and provide a variety of cask-conditioned ales to establishments across the South, they made their first brew that December. It has gone on to win a generous handful of awards including Camra's Hampshire Beer of the Year 2002/3/5/6 and 2007.
A statement from the administrators said: "Steps have been taken to market the brewery for sale nationally as a going concern with the assistance of specialist agents.
"Significant interest in the brewery has already been received within the first week of the administration and this is expected to develop over the coming days."
