Merseyside printers and direct mail service provider, Character DPM Group Limited and Character Mailing Services Limited, have both been placed into administration and are being sold by the administrators.
Paul Flint and Brian Green of KPMG Restructuring have been brought in to act as joint administrators to the businesses. A total of 44 employees out of 173 across the two businesses have been made redundant.
Based in Aintree, Character DPM Group has sites in Bootle and Warrington, while its subsidiary Character Mailing Services is based in Stockport. Hardship in the recession and cash flow problems led to the present situation for the businesses.
Paul Flint commented, “Recent years have seen many companies in the printing sector battling hard in the face of over-capacity, pricing pressures and the effect of increased competition from low-cost overseas players.”
Established in 1989, Character DPM Group has not recorded a revenue figure for the past three years but had total fixed assets for the year to 31 May 2009 of £2.48 million.
The administrators believe that its customer base and print and direct mail operations would be strong selling points to potential buyers, and are confident of a going concern sale. Interested parties are urged to contact the administrators as soon as possible.
