Avilton Foods, the Exeter-based supplier of some foods for Jamie Oliver's food range, has been sold in a pre-pack administration deal.
The company will now trade as Viva Food, according to Insider News, and will continue with its business of supplying imported foods. The new company was incorporated on 22 August this year, but it is not yet known about the future of the company's 22 workers.
The company had been in business for 20 years, trading as Avilton, before having to call in the administrators. It had been working with Jamie Oliver since 2004, when he launched his range of Mediterranean food products.
The last set of company accounts for Avilton, filed for the year to 30 September 2009, showed that the company's turnover had fallen to £36 million, down from £48.5 million in the previous year.
In a statement that accompanies the figures, the contract with Jamie Oliver was described as "performing strongly", by Avilton managing director, Henry Charteris.
He also said in the statement that he considered the 2009 results to be strong in the context of the "current global economic climate".
The pre-pack deal was handled by the company's joint administrators, Simon Thomas and Robert Pick, from Moorfields Corporate Recovery.
