BDO has been appointed to handle the administration of Manchester-based business, Brimar.
The company has been in business for 90 years, but the economic climate has proved to be too much for the firm to overcome without some significant changes.
BDO have confirmed that they are hoping to sell the business, which manufactures military electronics, as a going concern.
Located in Middleton, the firm, near Manchester, the firm also has two sites in the US and makes electronic displays for tanks, helicopters and aircraft. It also provides the film and television business with components.
The administrators explained the situation: “Unfortunately, the economic climate and difficult trading conditions have adversely affected the business, and it has been necessary to take steps to safeguard creditors," the administrators said.
"We are proactively reviewing all the options for the future of the company. Our immediate priority will be to ensure that business continues as usual over the coming weeks and that the production of strategically important products for customers in the defence and security sectors continues with minimal disruption. Customers seeking further information should contact the joint administrators with any queries.”
