Administrators at FRP Advisory are seeking buyers for the ongoing business and assets of Greater Manchester-based furniture seller Mountrose.
The business entered administration after starting to under perform, having been squeezed by pressures in the competitive retail sector. Mountrose, which has seven offices around the world, sought the administration process in order to protect its future as a viable business.
Alastair Massey and Benny Woolrych at FRP Advisory were appointed the administrators on 11 July 2016, and made 31 of the 39 staff redundant. The remaining eight are working to fulfil customer orders, from its base in Audenshaw.
Joint administrator Mr Massey told Insider Media: "Mountrose has vast experience in sourcing of indoor furniture, garden and leisure products, serving an array of retail clients and an extensive home customer network.
"We continue to trade the business, servicing new and ongoing Mountrose customer orders. We invite interested parties to make early contact.”
Headquartered in Manchester, the furniture seller has offices in Europe, Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Australia, and its products are sold in a number of household name retailers including Asda, Very, Simply Be, Littlewoods and Homebase. It has traded well for several years and enjoys long-term relationships with manufacturers around the globe, but despite this it had started making losses recently.
