Regional care home operator Maven Healthcare has expanded with the acquisition of purpose-built sites in Lincolnshire and Scotland from Priory Group. The acquisitions of the Abbey Court Care Home in Bourne, Lincolnshire, and Avondale Care Home in Motherwell were brokered by specialist business property adviser Montane Care.
The acquisition of the two homes takes London-headquartered Maven Healthcare’s portfolio to 15 care homes. The two homes employ more than 130 staff in total.
Abbey Court, which can accommodate up to 88 residents, provides dementia, nursing, residential respite and palliative care. The 55-room Avondale Care Home, meanwhile, provides dementia, nursing, convalescent, respite, palliative and end-of-life care.
A spokesperson for Maven Healthcare commented: “We are very excited to add Abbey Court and Avondale Care Home to our portfolio and are looking forward to continuing the excellent level of care delivered on a day-to-day basis to the residents.”
Anthony Rae, director of Montane Care, said that the two homes provide “high-quality nursing and residential care for elderly residents with a wide range of needs” and that, as part of the Priory Group, they have “both earned a reputation for their compassionate approach, committed staff and consistently high standards of compliance.”
Rae continued: “These qualities, combined with their trusted standing in the local areas, made Abbey Court and Avondale Care Home an attractive acquisition opportunity for the right buyer. Through a confidential and discreet marketing process, we generated interest from multiple potential acquirers before selecting the most suitable funded buyer.”
The sales come at a time when Priory Group has begun to divest a number of its care homes for elderly people, with Montane Care brokering the sale of the group’s Cooper House facility in Bradford to Strong Life Care earlier this year.
Priory Group Chief Executive Rebekah Creswell said that Anthony Rae’s “connections within the sector and ability to connect buyer and seller, both initially and during the due diligence and execution phases of transactions, have been particularly impressive” during the group’s sale processes.
Montane Care forms part of the Derbyshire-headquartered Montage group of businesses, which also includes Montane Finance, an independent finance broker for the hospitality and healthcare sectors, and Montane Insurance, a boutique commercial broker for the hospitality and healthcare sectors.
Scott Murcott from Montane Finance acted for Maven Healthcare to secure funding for the acquisitions from Priory Group, with a Maven spokesperson praising Murcott’s “professional diligence and support during the acquisition process” and adding that the company “would certainly work with Montane Care again for any future acquisitions.”
