Thu, 18 Mar 2010 | ADMINISTRATION
JD Owen Transport Ltd, the freight forwarding business of haulage specialist Dai Owen, is being placed into administration, according to reports.
Administrators John Titley and Andrew Poxon of Leonard Curtis announced that they have been brought in to oversee the administration process. The firm reportedly came across problems after a fall in the amount of freight forwarding work in the North Wales area. It was also hit hard by the closure of the Indesit factory, which had been a major source of work for the firm for the three years beforehand.
Dai Owen, the owner of the firm, stated, "I've never had to go down the administration route before, but there was just no work on the freight forwarding side. The government has done nothing to help at all." He continued,” the list of creditors is not too bad".
A total of ten jobs have been lost as a result of the administration, which occurred despite the company’s £1.2 million average annual turnover.
Dai Owen’s other haulage firm, which he runs as JD Owen Transport is also struggling to find work and has had to cut its fleet by half, along with its number of employees.
