Metrodome Group, the company behind movies including Donnie Darko and Monster, is now in administration.
While an official statement declaring the news has not yet been released, it is thought Cowgill Holloway is managing the administration process. Staff were informed of the situation and redundancies on Wednesday this week (17th August). Most of the 32 staff have lost their jobs.
Metrodome had been seeking a buyer for the business recently, and had expected to attend upcoming markets as normal. It's managing director Jezz Vernon exited his role last month.
It is thought that 101 Films has taken on some of the company's assets, but this hasn't been confirmed with the company.
New releases on the horizon include The Childhood Of A Leader, which is due out today (Friday, 19th August) and Personal Shopper, starring Kristen Stewart, set for a release in October. With the present circumstances, however, the future of these films is as yet unclear.
Established in 1995, Metrodome is among Britain's main purchasers of foreign language and English-language independent films, and also has international sales and production operations. Other recent releases include foreign language Oscar winner The Secret In Their Eyes and The Counterfeiters.
