Hawksley Engineering has been placed into administration following difficult trading conditions.
The engineering firm, based in Gunness near Scunthorpe, has been trading since 1972 and employs nine staff at its plant, all of whom will face redundancy unless a buyer can be found.
Administrators Andrew MacKenzie and Robert Maxwell from Begbies Traynor have been appointed to handle the business and find a buyer.
Mr MacKenzie commented: “Unfortunately Hawksley Engineering has suffered from the devastating effects of the economic downturn and the loss of a major customer, which has resulted in the business being put into administration.
"We are hopeful that the company can be sold as a going concern, safeguarding as many jobs as possible."
He added: "We are currently talking to a number of interested parties and hope to secure a buyer for the business and its assets, which include plant and machinery as well as 3.5 acres of land and buildings in Scunthorpe."
The business has an annual turnover of around £500,000 and provides structural and mechanical engineering projects for clients in the farming, marine and civil engineering industries. It is hoped that a sale can be secured shortly to ensure the continuity of the business and the employees jobs.
