A Lancashire engineering firm with roots in the Industrial Revolution has been rescued from administration.
BCH Limited, which makes turnkey systems for the manufacturing of food and confectionery products, said it was “delighted” it had been acquired by undisclosed private investors. BCH said several new jobs would be created as a result of its acquisition and it would continue to operate under the same brand.
The firm, based in Whitworth, has been in business since 1835 and was founded by three Victorian entrepreneurs - a brassfounder, a gold prospector and a confectioner.
BCH will continue to offer the same processing equipment and services with its management team remaining largely the same.
Following the acquisition, BCH will run autonomously to the owners, who plan to invest in new equipment to improve efficiencies and grow its presence overseas.
BCH makes processing systems for the manufacture of a wide range of food products, including jams, sweets, frozen meals and fruit toppings.
Stuart Grogan, operations director at BCH, said: “The team are extremely pleased that after 180 years in business, BCH will continue to design and manufacture the high quality processing equipment that they have become so well-known for.
“We look forward to a long future of developing technologies and welcoming customers to our Innovation Centre for product and equipment trials. ”
Insider Media reported that BCH, along with two other north-west based engineering firms, went into administration in September this year.
