Administrators have been drafted in to manage and sell Scottish upholstery retailer Instyle Furniture after suffering difficult trading conditions.
Gary Fraser and Blair Nimmo of KPMG have taken control of R&M Deluxe Upholstery Limited and R&M Deluxe Holdings Limited, which trade as Instyle Furniture.
Its Uddingston-based store and head office in Hillington are still operating. Its shops in Aberdeen and Glasgow were closed down shortly after the administrators were brought in, with the loss of 17 jobs out of 45 so far. The administrators intend to sell the business after reviewing its finances first.
Founded in 1983, Instyle Furniture manufactures and sells sofas and chairs, as well as other furniture. Its website is currently closed for maintenance. A spokesperson for KPMG said the matter of outstanding customer orders will be looked into once “more information regarding the business’ operations become clear,” and would be dealt with on an individual basis.
“R&M Deluxe Group has an excellent reputation for quality within the Scottish furniture sector, but has unfortunately experienced challenging trading conditions within recent years,” Mr Nimmo said.
"The combination of the business’ reputation, strong brand name and property assets presents a very good opportunity for prospective buyers,” he added.
