A kitchen supplier based in Downton has gone into liquidation after it accrued outstanding debts of almost £100,000.
Anya’s Country Kitchens was founded by Alan and Anja Green in 2006. It had an annual turnover at its peak of around £400,000 per year but ceased trading just after Christmas 2015.
A disgruntled customer of the distressed business told the Salisbury Journal was told his new kitchen would be delivered and fitted in two or three days but ended up having to wait several weeks. A few weeks later he discovered that the company had ceased trading and gone into liquidation.
The customer said: “Our kitchen has been finished to a standard — not a perfect one — but we have an insolvency company who have emailed recently asking for the remainder of the money. Albeit only a fraction of the amount we have paid.
“But we are pressing them about not paying due to the issues we have had.
“Ask the question — are you safer to buy from big businesses or support these local small companies and take the risk in doing so?”
OHJ Bathrooms, which shared a showroom with Anya’s Country Kitchens, has now expanded across the entire showroom on Downton High Street.
