A Bedford-based leisure site operated by Flowhouse (Bedford) Limited has been sold on to a new owner by administrators.
Daniel Plant and Simon Plant at SFP Group took up the reins of the business on 21 August, after it buckled under cash flow problems, made worse by a fine levied on the company leaving it unable to pay debts when due.
The Flowhouse site had flow-rider machines, a type of swimming pool which gives customers the experience of surfing, and cafes. A note on the Flowhouse website says Bodyflight has taken over the running of the flow-rider operation at the Bedford site.
The company’s other site in Castleford has been closed down and staff made redundant as it could not be sold.
Daniel Plant, partner at SFT Group, commented on the situation: “Flowhouse (Bedford) experienced cash-flow difficulties due to its Castleford operation not being as successful as had hoped and following the fine being levied upon the company, the company was no longer able to pay its debts.”
With the sale of the business and assets of the Bedford site, the jobs have been retained.
Customers with deposits or vouchers for use at Castleford who do not want to use them at Bedford will be able to claim a refund, the administrators added.
It was not made clear who the new owners of the Flowhouse (Bedford) site are.
