Thu, 20 Oct 2011 | ADMINISTRATION
A spokeswoman for Maidenhead-based specialist utility contractor, Options Utility Services, has confirmed that the company has fallen into administration.
The firm is currently being run by Philip Armstrong from financial services firm, FRP Advisory, the spokeswoman said, and it is still trading while the administrators embark on a search for a buyer for the business.
"Options continues to trade normally and the administrators are hoping to sell the business as a going concern," she said.
The firm, which was first founded in 2002, employs 60 staff and has around 200 subcontractors on its books, working on infrastructure projects around the whole of the UK. It began by providing contractor services for the telecoms sector, but has since successfully diversified to provide services for electricity, water, gas and highways maintenance works, at one point making it one of the country's fastest-growing independent civil engineering contracting firms.
Options Utility Services has a host of loyal, well-known businesses and organisations on its client list, including Skanska, Enterprise, Thames Water and Southern Electric Contracting. Its current major project is seeing it working with Carillion-Telent as a major infrastructure service provider on the BT Openreach network.
