Swindon Travel, a Wiltshire-based travel package company, has ceased trading ahead of officially going into administration this week.
The company's directors issued a statement yesterday giving brief details of the company's situation and advising people who have bought packages through the company on what they can do now.
"It is with much regret that we have come to the difficult decision that the company is no longer in a position to continue trading," the statement read. "The company has ceased to trade with immediate effect and all staff have been dismissed. No tickets for future events or scheduled trips will be dispatched."
The directors said that an update on the situation would be posted as soon as administrators are appointed. It is likely that, once the administrators have been brought in, they will fully explore opportunities to sell off the business or parts of its goodwill and assets.
Swindon Travel has operated out of premises in Havelock Street since 2002. It had been thought that the company was doing particularly well at the moment. It had recently been announced that the company had bought the freehold to the former Swindon Sony Centre premises and would be moving there in January 2012.
The company is a trading division of Spiller and Powell Enterprises Ltd, with Helen Spiller and Glenn Powell sitting as directors.
