A number of companies behind UK health group The Medical have gone into administration.
A total of 23 businesses that trade under the company name have fallen into liquidation. The centres affected include sites in Bristol, Bath, Bournemouth, Cheltenham, Cowes, Didcot, Hemel Hempstead, Keynsham, Midsomer Norton, Newport, Reading and Wimborne Minster.
According to the group, its umbrella includes such businesses as The Medical Healthcare Centres Ltd, which is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), as well as Total Health Bath Ltd and Total Health Brighton Ltd.
The Medical has a number of clinics, including one in Cheltenham, and around 75 practitioners are on its books. These professionals include a range of well being specialists such as massage therapists, osteopaths and medical consultants.
Some of the company's centres also offer fitness facilities, including personal training, yoga and pilates classes.
Among the services offered by the companies under The Medical group banner are physiotherapy, podiatry, osteopathy, acupuncture, as well as well being services such as heart checks and massages.
James Richard Arthurs and Michael Glassborow are the owners of the group. They have reportedly appointed joint administrators to deal with the administration process - Neil Maddocks and Rob Coad from financial advisory firm Undebt.
It is thought that the businesses are currently considering their options, including the possibility of a sale of one or more or the affected businesses, or the implementation of a company voluntary agreement. It is not clear yet whether the businesses or their clinics will close their doors, but the administrators have revealed they will be in contact with those affected by the collapse.
