Well-known photographic accessory distributor, Johnsons Photopia has gone into administration.

The company is the UK distributor for brands such as BlackRapid, Sekonic, Peli and PocketWizard as well as paper manufacturer Permajet and US-based lighting manufacturer, Westcott.

The notice on the company’s website reads: “Joint Administrators, W John Kelly and Gareth Prince who were appointed as Joint Administrators of the above Company on 25 September 2018. They act as agents of the Company and without personal liability. Any queries please contact Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP on 0121 200 8150 or via email to [email protected]

Johnsons Photopia has previously also distributed merchandise from Mamiya, Broncolor and Lastolite as well as Billingham, British bag producer. The company also distributes products for filter specialists Syrp and H&Y Filters.

Having maintained a significant presence in the UK distribution market, the company was also showcased at The Photography Show in March of this year.

The firm is based in Newcastle Under Lyme and has provided repairs and other technical after-sales support for photographic equipment from popular brands like Ricoh Imaging, Nikon and Sekonic.

Possessing a rich history in the photographic industry, the company, established back in 1743, has enjoyed strong relationships within the UK retailer network and made a reputation for itself.

The company was bought from David Vaughan in 2006 by Steve Kirkham, David Harper and Tim Harrison; who were effectively running the company prior to the sale. Its focus as a multi-skilled repairer with a professional team saw Johnsons Photopia as a provider with turnkey solutions for their brands.
